What’s the hardest thing about handling a barrel?

For me, it’s simply realizing the wave will actually barrel. If I think a section is gonna break in front of me, I’ll usually try to bottom turn around it or throw one last carve before it closes out. Often times, I end up dodging a barrel I didn’t notice was forming. Just keep surfing, and really focus on reading the wave. You’ll get in. (Although it does depend on where you surf and how often it barrels, Oahu boy here so I get plenty chances to screw it up and learn).

Remember that what the wave does is much more important than what you’re doing.

(What he really meant was, getting your friends to believe you!)
